In his presentation on „Wireless Sensing for Vulnerable Road User Protection,“ Fabian de Ponte Müller introduced the VIDETEC-2 project and CLS technology at the Conference on Advanced Connectivity for Future Mobility, held in Munich in June 2024. He explained how 6G communication can be used to detect and locate vulnerable road users, enhance situational awareness, and contribute to the vision of zero road traffic casualties by 2050. Fabian concluded that with advancements in 6G communication and wireless sensing, communication and infrastructure-side perception will not merely coexist but will merge into a unified system that supports improved collaborative awareness.
